The ABC/R (Augmented Bolt Catch/Release) is an enhanced version of a standard bolt catch/release. The top paddle is angled and has a larger surface area on the top and bottom paddles.
This makes the paddle easier to activate during use but is designed for use with ambidextrous magazine releases such as the Forward Controls Design Enhanced Magazine Release Ambidextrous (EMR-A) or the Norgon's Ambi-Catch. Many of the ambidextrous mag release's lower paddle is on the same vertical plane as the factory bolt catch lower paddle, making identification difficult by feel, especially with a gloved hand.
Variants:
- FB (forward biased) is for right hand users that wrap their left hand around the magazine well, and use their left thumb to press the bolt catch's upper paddle.
- Standard (non-biased) upper paddle remains the same position
- RB (rearward biased) is for left hand users that use their extended left index finger to access the bolt catch paddles.
Please note that these are designed for standard 5.56 TDP lower receivers, we do not guarentee it will work on billet or other caliber receivers.
