Snake Oil is a weapons grade lube made specifically for center fire rifles and handguns, and a collaboration between CherryBalmz and Forward Controls Design.
Snake Oil is a lightweight grease with a consistency of about an NLGI #0, which is roughly the consistency of a mayonnaise.
The purpose of a thicker consistency is for the oil to stay put in unsealed/sliding systems versus thinner oil which can slide down the receiver extension/buffer tube, down the bottom of the lower receiver into the magazine, down the barrel etc...When attending a shooting course or other high rate of fire activity, most gun lubes are so thin that the oil immediately comes off and goes all over your clothes and face while shooting. So more oil has to be applied but it makes the gun a slippery mess.
One application provides 5-10x more shooting over any gun oil, in the harshest environments - a gun which may normally start experiencing malfunctions at 300-400 rounds commonly gets 4000+ rounds without a single friction-related malfunction with our lubricants. Until someone experiences this, it's genuinely hard for them to internalize just how much more reliable their guns can be.
